Confirmation is a Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
If you are an adult who was baptized Catholic but did not receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, you can still receive this special sacrament now. Contact the front office.
What is OCIA?
OCIA is shorthand for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and it is the process that guides people along the way to receiving the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. We have named it, "The Journey."
Who is it for?
The Journey is for anyone who is interested in more information about how to become Catholic or those who have already discerned a conversion to Catholicism. The process is meant for those who have not yet been baptized or for those who have been baptized in a different Faith.
What does it look like?
Beginning in September, our OCIA team will work with you in sessions that are in-person. These classes are designed to explore a relationship with Jesus and the Catholic Church aimed at preparing each participant for the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. Our team will walk with you on The Journey of Faith as you discern your conversion.
How do I get more information?
If this sounds like something you are interested in learning more about for you or someone you know, contact Dcn Rob Strouse: [email protected] or 517-669-8335.
How can I register?
Please fill out THIS REGISTRATION FORM and a person from our team will contact you to set up a "get to know you" conversation.
I am Catholic and want to help with this process.
What can I do?
We are looking for parishioners interested in participating in the OCIA team. Team members will be trained and supported. If you are interested in helping or in receiving more information on what this would entail, contact the main office. We invite you to consider sharing your Catholic faith with others on this journey.
