The Food for the Poor Project was quite different this year so providing a summary of those served is different as well. Despite COVID restrictions though, a total of 96 boxes of food were able to be delivered to the five agencies listed below. This included a combination of "family" boxes provided to the families being served (64), and additional boxes of food/personal needs items specifically for the shelters supported by these agencies. Food packing and delivery by St. Jude volunteers (primarily food bank volunteers) took place over a three week period with deliveries occurring on Fridays.
The individual "family" boxes were hand-packed by volunteers to provide solid meals for up to four people for two or more days. In addition, each family received perishables of milk, butter, eggs, bread, and ground beef (chickens for refugee services families). The "family" boxes for Refugee Services contained fruits/vegetables suited to more traditional diets.
The surplus food items were provided to the St. Therese & St.. Jude Food Banks.
