Fr. Bob was born and raised in Grand Ledge to Ward and Adeline (Finnis) Irish. He is the seventh of eight children (Janice Lee, James, Karleen Kay, Ward, Michael, Stephen and Mary Jo). Both his parents and one brother, Stephen are alive and well in heaven.
Fr. Bob was assigned as the Administrator of our parish on June 26, 2013 and was named our pastor by Bishop Boyea on June 25, 2014.
Fr. Bob also serves as a chaplain with the City of Lansing Police Department.
Prior to his ordination as priest (March 28, 1992) he worked in various professional occupations: police officer, professional minor league baseball umpire, high school teacher and coach. After his ordination to the Priesthood Fr. Bob served as Parochial Associate at St. John's (Jackson 1992-94), St. Patrick's (Brighton 1994-95) and as Pastor of Holy Trinity Student Chapel at Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti 1995-98). For 16 years prior to being assigned here, his ministry was serving outside the diocese in Catholic healthcare.
Above you see Fr. Bob and his faithful companion Mi Nina (Spanish for "my girl or my baby girl"). Nina enjoys coming to work with him almost daily. Mi Nina is a border collie/blue heeler mix.
